CEMETERY MARKERS & MONUMENTS

BEFORE PURCHASING ANY MONUMENTS, LOT HOLDERS MUST CONSULT WITH CEMETERY MANAGEMENT REGARDING MONUMENT SIZE, MATERIAL AND DESIGN.

FOUNDATIONS FOR MONUMENTS AND MARKERS ARE INSTALLED BY CEMETERY WORKERS ONLY. INSTALLATION CHARGES FOR GOVERNMENT MARKERS MUST BE PAYABLE IN ADVANCE.

Applications for monuments and markers are available at the Rectory Office and the offices of local monument dealers. These applications set forth, in detail, the rules and regulations governing the erection of monuments and markers.

The following rules and regulations apply to all grave lots:

Only 1 upright monument can be placed on any lot.  All others must be flat with the ground.

The maximum height for a monument on any lot is 48”; the maximum size of monuments for 8-grave lots is 72” long by 18” wide.

Only granite or marble monuments will be allowed and the base of each monument must be leveled on the bottom, so it may stay solid and erect on top of the foundation.

Before a permit can be issued, a detailed plan and design for all memorials must be submitted to the Pastor of St. Brigid’s Church for approval. No monument can be erected or placed until approved and accepted by the Pastor.

Every memorial must display a symbol of the Catholic faith. All epitaphs and designs not in harmony with the teachings and doctrines of the Catholic Church are prohibited.

Memorials featuring statuary on pedestals, made of granite only, are permitted. Statuary, however, cannot surmount the original monument.

The use of aprons in front of a monument or around a monument is prohibited.

  •

Once a memorial has been approved and erected, no change affecting the design or size of the memorial can be made without the express permission of the Pastor of St. Brigid’s Church.

No memorial will be permitted on a grave or lot not fully paid for and not on Perpetual Care. St. Brigid’s Church disclaims any responsibility for damages from causes beyond its reasonable control, especially damages caused by the elements, thieves or vandals.

St. Brigid’s Church maintains the right to correct or remove any unsightly or hazardous memorials, at the expense of the lot holder, in order to maintain the safety and well-being of the cemetery and its visitors.
