K-1 (ages 3-6)

We are implementing the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program for children between the ages of 3-6. Our catechist, Steph Mattrey, is trained in the Montessori based catechetical program that aims to teach children the tenets of the Catholic faith through naturalistic child lead learning. Classes will be at the same time on Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 am in the brand new Level 1 Atrium, which is housed in the Saint Brigid Parish Center. The Atrium is a large, beautiful, sunny haven of natural wonder which will spark a child’s joy and love for the Catholic faith. If you would like to learn more about CGS please visit this website. Please find the schedule for class below.

How Does Our Religious Education Program accomplish this?

  • Provides a Welcoming and Inclusive Environment by creating a safe environment where young people feel valued, accepted, and comfortable asking questions and exploring their faith.
  • Fosters Relationships: We encourage meaningful relationships between our youth as well as between youth and adults, building a strong sense of community within our parish.
  • Gospel Witness: Teachers and catechists are living examples of the faith, committed to their Catholic identity and sharing that through their words and actions.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Our Catechists have a strong understanding of Catholic teachings, Scripture, and Tradition, combined with effective teaching techniques and the ability to build honest and caring relationships with our youth.
  • Openness and Curiosity: We foster an environment of open dialogue and curiosity, where questions and doubts are welcomed and explored using reliable sources like Scripture and the Catechism.
  • Parental Involvement: We support and equip our parents to be the primary educators of the faith for their children, by offering resources, education, and opportunities for family faith development.
  • Regular Parent Meetings: Parent meetings and events are scheduled for each grade, especially theological preparation before First Confession, First Communion and Confirmation. Parent meet & greets are a wonderful way to meet other parents and ask questions.
